Biography
About the Author
James Christian was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas, and served in the US Navy and subsequently in the US Air Force after graduating from high school. He received BA, MA and PhD degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and launched a career in university teaching and research at Iowa State University. After becoming a full professor there, he realized a lifetime dream of international travel, assisting Third World countries with their economic development, exploring the major cities of Europe and Asia along the way. In his career, he has visited and/or worked in 50 different countries. In the 1980s, he devoted himself to domestic work as Chief Economist of the US League of Savings Institutions, where he witnessed first hand the firestorm that swept the US financial system.
(Ah, the Chinese curse–may you live in interesting times.) He returned to Texas in the early 1990s and served briefly as Director of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. Leaving A&M behind, he moved to Fair Oaks Ranch, taught economics at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and resumed international work in both the Third World and the Second World of the newly independent republics of the Soviet Union. Writing has been a way of life for him, spanning professional articles in peer-reviewed journals, magazine articles, technical books on financial development, papers in conference proceedings and chapters in the edited works of others. He is now conducting spiritual studies (A Long Walk With Jesus) and writing novels (Audrey’s Bonds). Another novel is soon to be released (An Armenian Affair), followed by a collection of short stories (Lost and Found).
